100% pure aspen wood shavings. No dyes, no perfumes, no nasty chemicals or additives - literally zero. Aspen is the gold standard for a reason. Unlike pine or cedar, it doesn't carry the aromatic oils that can irritate tiny lungs. Soft, natural shavings, and nothing your pet shouldn't be breathing in. And aspen happens to be absolutely beautiful, too ✨
Built for burrowing
Animals like hamsters and gerbils are diggers. In the wild they burrow deep and build an extraordinary network of tunnels. It doesn't just make them feel happy - it makes them feel safe & it's a lot of fun to watch them digging! Our aspen bedding is cut to a unique size and shape that holds tunnels extraordinarily well whilst staying wonderfully soft. We recommend having at least 30cm of bedding - but the deeper the better
Sensationally soft, super low-dust
We hunted for soft, and we found it - so soft, in fact, it might make you a little jealous. Lab testing put our dustiness at 0.1% which is as low-dust as bedding gets. That means a cleaner home, clearer little airways, and no big dust clouds every time you set things up ❤️
Specially heat treated
Our aspen bedding is carefully heat-treated in our factory to ensure there's no bacteria, mould, or mites - so what goes into your little one's home is clean and safe from day one. Just soft, natural aspen, exactly the way it should be
One bedding, lots of happy animals
For hamsters, gerbils and mice, use it as deep bedding to dig and tunnel through, or as soft nesting material for building the perfect bed. For guinea pigs and rabbits, it makes a brilliant natural substrate underfoot. We wanted to make as many floofs as happy as possible 🐹🐰

For Hamsters & Gerbils
These are digging animals! In the wild these little guys dig the most incredible networks of tunnels. Burrowing doesn't just make them happy - it also makes them feel safe & secure.
The 10kg bundle of our bedding will fill up a Bandaby home - which is 120*60*70cm - to 30cm with 1-2 bags left over spare
The 4kg bundle is great if you just want to use the bedding as nesting material or top up after a spot clean ✨
For Rabbits & Guinea Pigs
Now, this really depends on your set up at home! Some people have a large enclosure set up like a big shed and might like to use the bedding to cover the entire floor space - in which case, 10kg is the better option
Others might keep their rabbits or guinea pigs in a dedicated room or large run and use our aspen bedding as an enrichment substrate in a tray - in which case 4kg is your best bet! ❤️
We are committed to getting each and every batch of our bedding lab tested to ensure that our bedding is 100% safe for you and your pets - now and always.
Our first batch passed with flying colours! This is what we tested for:
- Dust Content: we had only 0.1%
- Water Absorption: we beat the min requirement by +200%
- Heavy Metals: We tested 100% negative for Cadmium, Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, Aflatoxin
- Other Nasty Stuff: We also tested totally negative for Aflatoxin B, Salmonella, Formaldehydes and DDT or BHC pesticides
- Moisture Content: Safely within normal ranges
Things like softness and appearance are lovely - but the number one priority for us at Bandaby for everything we do will always be animal welfare and safety 🥹🫶🏼🐹
Our bedding is on its way! It is due to arrive in the UK on the 23rd of July and should be with you within a couple of days after that - with EU orders taking approximately one to two weeks longer depending on the country
Orders can be cancelled with a 100% refund before they leave our warehouse

Blew my expectations, i’ve been using it for only a week, yet it already became my hamster’s favourite. After he had been hospitalised and moved back to proper setup he stopped burrowing, it made me incredibly sad, as it was his favourite thing to do. Some days (most days) prior to being hospitalised, i’d wake up to his whole setup covered in chipsi bedding, after his nighttime burrowing. It all changed after i introduced him bandaby’s dig & dream bedding. He is in heaven ✨
His burrows are everywhere, every multichamber. And they are ADORABLE!!
One thing that hasn’t been mentioned about this bedding which in my opinion is EXTREMELY important - it’s not messy. It doesn’t go everywhere. It doesn’t cover your substrates and sprays when they burrow. It doesn’t end up taking 1 hour to clean off bedding from all over their cage. And it certainly doesn’t cause you to sneeze and barely be able to breathe when compressing it or mixing it.
It’s just simply ✨perfect✨. Your hamster will be more than grateful for the switch. If you’re overthinking it, just do it, place your order. You won’t be disappointed.
Gorgeous bedding! I am naturally a very picky hamster mum when it comes to bedding for my Monty, but this is a game changer! Super soft, absorbent, a great natural aspen look & the bedding holds my hamsters equipment and burrows amazingly!! It’s been over a week of using it and everything is still holding in position despite my hamster burrowing below! Best bedding I’ve tried! I’m a veterinary nurse of over 25 years and I’ve had hamsters my entire life, so I’ve seen my fair share of hamster bedding over the years, and I can honestly say, this is something else! 🙌
It’s definitely an investment for the first bag, BUT once you see it in action, you totally understand it. The bedding is incredible - my hamster can make proper tunnels that actually stay standing! 🥹🐹 No more tunnels collapsing five minutes later!
And the absorption is AMAZING. The lack of smell is honestly unbelievable. You can spot-clean the wee/poop corners and food-hoarding areas rather than constantly stripping the whole enclosure.
The deeper bedding makes such a difference too. 30cm+ depth gives them the opportunity to properly burrow and create tunnels, and it’s made me realise just how much we’ve been missing when it comes to hamster husbandry. We really have been so uneducated for far too long! 😭
And when you look at the cost over time, it really is so cost-effective. The smaller top-up bags mean you’re not constantly buying huge amounts, and you can maintain the setup without replacing everything.
Honestly, I’ve tried plenty of bedding over the years, but there is NO comparison. This isn’t just bedding - it’s basically a hamster underground kingdom 😂🐹🏡

I’ve been using Bandaby’s aspen bedding for a few months now and I have been really impressed with it! The first thing I noticed was just how low dust it is compared to other aspen bedding I’ve used, which was a big plus for me as hamsters have super sensitive respiratory systems! It also holds burrows incredibly well once it’s packed down, my hamster has dug such wonderful burrows that actually stay up instead of collapsing straight away.
It arrived perfectly dry and ready to use, with a nice consistent texture throughout. It looks great in the enclosure, is easy to spot clean, and overall just feels like a really well-prepared product. I’ll definitely be using it again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality aspen bedding 🤍✨

Lovely bedding - perfect for digging and burrowing. The value for money is great - it works out a lot cheaper than paper bedding, and my hamster definitely prefers the texture of this.
